TU Chemnitz

The Chair of Communication Networks of the TU Chemnitz deals with methods, techniques and architectures for flexible and fault-tolerant communication in wireless and wired communications networks.

Research activities are flexible network architectures based on Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), new methods for quality of service monitoring and traffic control (traffic engineering), and for planning and techno-economic evaluation of communication networks. The studies carried out here on the one hand by means of analytical models and simulations and the other hand based on real systems or prototype implementations.

The TU Chemnitz does research for the BIC-IRAP project in its own test laboratory which can be expanded if needed. The institute runs models of the network and service infrastructure to test it both from technical and economically perspective. It develops different automatized procedures in order to improve network performance and reporting to the internet service provider/mobile network operators.
